Wisconsin Technology Summit - An exciting 2026 DSPN Annual Conference Pre-Event Feature!

Cost to Attend: None! But we do ask that you register in advance here. To promote maximum participation on this relevant provider matter, there is no charge for this pre-event session. This made possible through generous sponsorship support from Anthem.
Pre-Event Goal/Purpose: Gather stakeholders from across Wisconsin and nationally to direct focus upon actionable, collaborative solutions that will expand the successful implementation of remote support technologies. We are seeking leadership from the Department to actively champion the appropriate use of technology as a safe, effective component of long-term care service delivery while supporting clients' rights.
Pre-Event Overview: DSPN will bring together invested stakeholders for a 4-hour in-person session. The event will take place at the 2026 DSPN Annual Conference venue.
Invited Stakeholders: Wisconsin Department of Health Services: Division of Quality Assurance and Division of Medicaid Services; Managed Care Organizations; state legislative partners; national disability service advocates; Wisconsin provider community. Owners and operators of Adult Family Homes, Community Based Residential Facilities, and independent living settings will find this session of particular interest.
National Perspectives & Insights: We're delighted to be joined by Dr. Emily Shea Tanis, PhD, Associate Research Professor at the Kansas University Center in Developmental Disabilities, Life Span Institute, University of Kansas. In 2026 Dr. Tanis was awarded a Sesqui Policy Award from the American Association on Intellectual Disabilities for her merit, impact, and contributions to the field. She has published articles and investigated the definition of intellectual disability, the measurement of adaptive behavior and support need, the construct of self-determination, federally funded supports and services for people with IDD and their families, and self-directed employment strategies. She is nationally recognized for her expertise in applied technology solutions, Technology First, cognitive accessibility, and advancing the rights of people with cognitive disabilities to technology and information access. Dr. Tanis will highlight the most recent national data and provide an outlined pathway for Wisconsin to advance Technology First.
