Bringing up a child by a parent is not an easy job. It could have been easier when society was less developed the demands and aspirations of both the child and parent were much less. Today’s parents and child alike are much better informed and communication and technology has played a big role in making them so. Hence under such changed circumstances and realities, it is very essential to pay lot of attention to good parenting and proper bringing up of the child.
Not only the parents have to be well informed but they should also be skilled and qualified to teach their children in proper upbringing and knowledge gathering. Unless they are well educated themselves no sooner they will become objects of ridicule in front of their children and they should avoid this situation at all costs.
Teaching methods are changing in the schools rapidly and the child expects that the same changes are also incorporated in the house when he or she reaches out to the parents to gather knowledge.
The first basic thing that a concerned parent should do is to master the use of computer and internet. Today’s child has exposure to the computer from a very tender age and it is therefore a step ahead of many parents who perhaps did not have this opportunity when they were young. But not knowing or being ignorant is not the solution and some efforts need to be put in by the parent to be at par with the children as far as basics of computer are concerned.
Today’s child does not believe in being scolded or ridiculed in front of others. In fact many children even at a tender age take serious offence to such behavior by parent and if it is not rectified it could prove counter productive to both the child and the parent.
